Dhul Hijjah came with its beautiful days of worship, sacrifice, and connection to Allah.
You were intentional with your time. And you avoided all kinds of distractions. You felt close to Allah.
The group reminders may have slowed down as compared to the days of Dhul Hijjah.
That powerful energy you felt during the best 10 days of the year? It might feel like it’s fading. But Dhul Hijjah isn’t meant to be the end of your good deeds.
Instead of slipping back into old routines, we can carry forward what we gained.
1. Keep the habit of voluntary fasting
The Prophet (SAW) used to fast on those days, and when asked why, he said:
"On Mondays and Thursdays Allah forgives every Muslim except two who have forsaken one another." (Sunan Ibn Majah)
2. Set a daily dua reminder
Don’t let your dua list end with Dhul Hijjah.
The Prophet (SAW) said, "Du'a (supplication) is worship." (Abu Dawud) Set a reminder on your phone—maybe right after Fajr or before bed—and take two minutes to make your duas.
3. Continue giving—even a little
Qurbani season is over, but Sadaqah is timeless.
"When a man dies all his good deeds come to an end except three: Ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge and a righteous son who prays for him." (Sunan an-Nasa'i)
Even if you give $2 a week with sincerity, it matters.
Give monthly with National Zakat Foundation Canada and directly impact families in need across the country.
4. Seek forgiveness often
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not." (Abu Dawud)
Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little." (Sahih al-Bukhari)
The doors of mercy remain open.
