Your Zakat Helps Refugees Find Belonging Within

Their Muslim Community

Since the start of the ongoing conflict in Sudan, countless families have been forced to flee their homes, leaving behind everything they know and love. Many have sought refuge in Canada, hoping for safety and a chance to rebuild their lives. Due to a lack of media attention, they have not received the support they desperately need. At National Zakat Foundation, we are committed to stepping in as champions for these families.

The Impact of Your Zakat in Their Words

"I cannot describe the feeling of watching my growing children survive on bread alone. All the children are so happy we got clothes and food I reached out to NZF. When we received warm winter clothes and halal food, my wife and I were overcome with gratitude for Zakat and what it can do for us."

What kind of community do we hope to build?

In 2023, 63% of our applications at National Zakat Foundation were from refugees.
Over 7,600 refugees and newcomers needed our help to support them as they navigated a new life in a new country.
Every year, thousands of refugees need help to be connected to basic essentials like food and shelter as they await government assistance and employment.
It is your Zakat that helps them build more dignified lives right here in Canada.
It is your Zakat that create a welcoming space where refugees, often displaced and in need of a new home find solace and belonging within their Muslim community.
At National Zakat Foundation, we hope to build a more dignified and unified Muslim community through Zakat.
If we don’t extend a helping hand to them, who will?

Aisha (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Jibril (RA) kept on recommending that I treat neighbours well until I thought that he would order me to treat them as my heirs."
