Your giving in 2025 helped 17,969 people across Canada make it through rising costs and uncertainty.
But each month, more families reach out for help. In 2025 alone, demand rose by 7%, with almost 295 monthly applicants, driven by higher housing costs, job insecurity, and the growing number of newcomers starting over in Canada.
As 2026 approaches, we expect these pressures to deepen. End this year by giving local, so families can begin the next one with the essentials they need to stay housed, fed, and on the path toward independence.
Across Canada, families are being pushed beyond their limits. The cost of food, rent, and daily living has never been higher — and more people than ever are turning to their community just to get by.
💸 99.9% increase in food bank visits since 2019 - the highest in Canadian history. (Food Banks Canada)
🍞 43% of recent immigrants say it’s very difficult to meet financial needs — making housing even harder to afford. (Statistics Canada)
🏠 45% of Canadians report struggling to cover daily expenses. (Statistics Canada)
Cover utilities and bills for a family for one month, ensuring they have access to water, heating and electricity
Provide a family one month's supply of food and groceries, saving them from hunger and protecting their well-being
Helps subsidize rent for a family for one month, saving them from eviction

Allah reminds us of the sincerity of His righteous servants in the Quran: "We feed you only for the sake of Allah" (Quran, 76:9).
This highlights that the act of charity remains solely for Allah’s pleasure, regardless of any worldly rewards. As long as your intention remains sincere and for the sake of Allah, the financial benefit you gain from tax savings does not cancel your Zakat or Sadaqah (by the will of Allah). You are simply following a legal process to claim the money that belongs to you. Many people donate that tax liability reduction again which multiplies their rewards (by the will of Allah)!

Any donation made to a registered Charity, like National Zakat Foundation, allows you to claim the charitable contribution’s non-refundable tax credit on your tax return as long as you have an official donation receipt. An official donation receipt shall be issued by the registered charity only if the donation amount was higher than $20.
In Canada, when you donate to registered charity, and upon claiming the donation amount of donation on your tax return, you can get non-refundable tax credit that lowers the amount of taxes you owe to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) according to the following formula and rates:
● First $200: For the first $200 you donate; the federal tax credit rate is 15%.
● Above $200: For any donations over $200, the federal tax credit rate is 29%.
This means that the more you give beyond $200, the more you save on your taxes!
Each province has its own set of tax credits for charitable donations. This means the financial benefits you receive for your contributions can vary significantly. For example, a donation that earns you a specific credit in Ontario might yield a different amount in Quebec or British Columbia.
No matter where you live, keep accurate records of your charitable donations like receipts so you can claim all eligible deductions on your tax return.
Also, consider consulting with a local tax professional or advisor who understands the charitable tax rules in your province.
Yes it is, and here are three reasons why:
● You close the year with empathy, making you feel fulfilled and connected to your community.
● You support your neighbours and remind families facing challenges that they are not alone, helping them see brighter futures.
● You maximize your Tax Return by reducing your taxable income.
